Atlanta Micro Fund History

The Atlanta Micro Fund (AMF) was established in April 1999 by a local coalition of nonprofit housing developers called the Atlanta Housing Association of Neighborhood-based Developers (AHAND). The AMF began serving six communities in Atlanta and now, the organization serves the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta area.

The agency became a United States Small Business Administration (SBA) Micro Loan Intermediary in 2005. Under its Micro Loan Program, SBA provides loan capital to intermediaries, which in turn re-lend the capital to entrepreneurs. The AMF is the only SBA Micro Loan Intermediary in the City of Atlanta and one of only five in Georgia.
